Indian River County utilizes MyGovernmentOnline (MGO) permitting and inspection software. The software enhances the process of submission, review, and approval of permit applications for contractors and residents through convenient online services.

The correct E-MAIL is critically important to use when creating your MyGovernmentOnline customer portal account to ensure accurate association of your current permits into the MGO permitting portal.
If your E-MAIL address is not correct, please contact Contractor Licensing immediately at 772-226-1960, or via email at: contractorlicensing@indianriver.gov to have your contractor license information updated. The e-mail address on file with contractor licensing is critical to validating your account when associating your contractor license with your MyGovernmentOnline customer portal account.
If your PHONE number is not correct, prior to our Go Live Date of July 10th, 2023, please contact the Building Division at 772-226-1260 to make the correction. After July 10th, 2023, please contact the MyGovernmentOnline help desk at 1-866-957-3764, and select option 1 to have the number manually ‘verified’ on your customer portal account.

2023 8th Edition Florida Building Codes Effective Dec. 31, 2023 at midnight
Statement of Function It is the responsibility of the County Building Division to enforce the Florida Building Codes required by the state and adopted by the County. The Division has jurisdiction within and serves the unincorporated county and the City of Vero Beach. The Florida Building Code covers all types of construction and includes provisions relating to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, building, and other activities, as well as Florida Accessibility Code and Florida Energy Code provisions. Enforcement involves reviewing building plans; issuing construction, repair, and demolition permits; conducting inspections; and conducting activities related to code compliance, contractor licensing, unlicensed and unpermitted activities. The Building Division is also responsible for enforcing the portions of the Indian River County Code relating to the condemnation of substandard and unsafe buildings by reason of dilapidation, obsolescence, abandonment, vandalism, inadequate and unsafe egress, and damage due to fire or accidents.
Business Hours Due to current overall workload there will be a limit of 10 permits accepted per day from any one applicant/company. There is a reduced staff level from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. daily due to County Administrative policy which requires staff to take their assigned lunch break during these hours.
